ADRIANA CARVALHO
810 Lincoln Road, Studio 111 Mixed Media Carvalho started an art apprenticeship in a remote town in Brazil called Taquaritinga. There is a bar on each corner, a small library but not a single art school. She made dolls with clay from imagination and later experimented with materials such as tin, wire, wood, mango seeds, sugar cane sticks and corn...real organic sculptures! After Carvalho moved to Chicago, she became influenced by the extensive resources available for use and inspiration like recycled items, iron structures and public art. Her art making process merged the spirituality of her native country with the industrial personality of Chicago. Currently the artist lives and works in Miami Beach, an environment which has fostered and allowed her work to become more adventurous by assembling more unexpected materials. Carvalho produces out of passion and experiences from daily life, with the goal of expressing positive values through a posture of beauty. 305.532.5422 acarvalho@earthlink.net |
