Patrick de Castro is a multi-media artist. He has worked with painting, drawing, video and installation. Patrick de Castro's work is deeply personal but also relates to the larger community as a whole. De Castro's current work explores contemporary issues such as DNA, race, gender identity, gay identity, immigration as well as reincarnation. Many of De Castro's paintings/drawings incorporate his family into Victorian costume. He reflects on the human diversity in his family in order to extrapolate beliefs; and manifest stereotypes into convenient packages. De Castro's paintings are vibrant, rich in color and draw from many influences such as Haitian art, 18th century fashion drawings, silhouette cut-outs, collage, and abstract expressionism. Patrick de Castro studied at SASCI art institute in Florence, Italy and at Pratt Institute Graduate School of Interior Design.
