Sara Modiano studied 5 years in art school in Colombia and has exhibited in different Biennales and art shows around the world. Her passion in life is to be in contact with her inner self, to constantly discover the essence of the human being. Sara uses art to mirror herself. Her photographs and installations are the reflections of inner self. They are in return her mirror. The materials she uses, silver paint, mirrors, wine mesh, amongst others, attract light in a changing form triggering on emotion in the viewer transporting the individual to an evolved state of mind.
Reflection
Reflection challenges preconceived ideas of human identity giving us a portrait of a person of unrealistic color and ethnicity. Modiano appears silver against a dark black background resembling an other-worldy and almost alien being. She is unrecognizable in color, yet we identify with the emotive pose and human aspect of her face. Reflection comments on ethnic and racial diversity, a topic very relevant to the city of Miami where Modiano resides. The Reflection series is a study of the intricacies of human expression. Modiano looks at the mass of intricate movements that make up one whole unique expression and captures the most extreme of these expressions- from agony to ecstasy. Each moment is captured at its most climactic and significant point.
