Susan Feliciano 924 Lincoln Road, Studio 208 Painting Susan Feliciano attended Florida International University where she received a BA in Psychology, BFA in Art, and a MS in Art Education. In 2004, Ms. Feliciano was awarded the Fulbright Memorial Fund, a study grant to Tokyo, Japan. Seria Española/Spanish Series are works on paper deriving their titles – Antonia, Paloma, Amparo, Jacinto, and Modesto from Spanish names of antiquity. These names belong to actual relatives as well as fictional characters from movies and books. These pieces are saturated with intense hues. Her use of complementary colors evokes a sense of serenity. Feliciano creates rich, velvety textures. Many times she scratches away the surface to reveal what is hidden underneath. Reds or greens are unearthed creating patinas. These minimal drawings of horizontal and vertical rectangles suggest landscapes. In many ways they are; imagined places marking a constructed past. Susan has exhibited her work in many venues throughout South Florida. The works on paper are in private collections in Miami. One of her early pieces is featured, along with 24 local artists, in A.K.A., an artist book produced by Ambrosino Gallery in Miami, Florida |
