Helen Marie Webster uses the figure to convey a mood or feeling to the viewer that may be understood independent of their varied cultures and experiences. Nostalgia plays a large role in her work which is also inspired by Asian art, her Cuban heritage and her kinship to Puerto Rico. Webster received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her MFA from Indiana University, Bloomington.
