The class will focus on providing students with the necessary visual tools needed for making drawings that are both accurate and expressive. Classical and contemporary drawing techniques will be practiced with a strong emphasis on learning to draw what the eye actually sees instead of relying on preconceptions and symbols. All aspects of drawing including shape, values (shading), edges, texture, perspective and composition will be covered. Drawing anything, whether it is a still life or a portrait, from life or from a photograph, is a skill that anyone with the proper training and dedication can master. This idea, as well as acquiring the proper mindset for growth and learning will be central to the class.
