Opportunity to participate in Les Cliniques, organized by Es Baluard Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Palma de Mallorca, Spain

ArtCenter/South Florida is pleased to announce an open call to ArtCenter alumni and current studio residents to participate in a 7-day International Exchange program with Es Baluard Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The selected artist will travel to Palma de Mallorca, Spain and engage with participants involved in the opening days of the 2017-2018 Les Cliniques organized by Es Baluard.
The selected artist will receive a travel stipend and accommodations in order to explore the local art scene in Palma de Mallorca and participate in group discussions and critiques organized by EsBaluard. Please note: in order to take full advantage of this experience, selected artist must have a fluent ability to understand Spanish, even if primary spoken language is English. Upon their return, the selected artists is expected to organize a public program drawn from her/his experience during this exchange.
Eligibility: ArtCenter alumni and ArtCenter current studio residents residing in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, or Monroe Counties are invited to apply. Recipient must have a fluent ability to understand Spanish, even if primary spoken language is English. Recipient must have a valid passport and the ability to travel during the specified residency period.

Residency period: September 13-September 20, 2017 at Es Baluard Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
What is offered: A travel stipend not to exceed $1,500. This stipend is to be used to cover economy round trip airfare from your current location to Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Accommodations will be provided by our partner institution, Es Baluard. Upon completion of a public program at ArtCenter,  the selected artist will receive $250 honorarium.

    • Contact information
    • Confirmation that you will be available to travel during designated residency term (September 13-20, 2017), this includes confirmation of valid passport and travel documentation. Note: ArtCenter does not provide nor cover fees associated with visas or travel documentation.
    • CV (max. 3 pages)
    • 2 references who know you on professional level (name, email, phone, and affiliation)
    • A statement of intent addressing why you want to be part of ArtCenter’s international exchange with EsBaluard and what you hope to accomplish during the one week residency. (max. 500 words)
    • Up to 10 images as jpgs, 72 dpi (not embedded in a program such as PowerPoint) Note: In case of video, please submit the link for review

Selection process & notification of acceptance
The decisions will be based on the materials provided in the application. The proposals will be reviewed by a selection committee consisting of ArtCenter and Es Baluard representatives. The selected applicant will be notified of their acceptance July 30, 2017.
