Nothing Familiar  is an exhibition curated by visiting curator Guillermo Espinosa through the support of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and Knight Foundation. The exhibition addresses the current process of alienation in relation to technological advancement and the emergence of social networks. Today, the documentation of personal experiences has been multiplied and fractioned exponentially within the last decade, blurring the boundaries between the private and the public. This has resulted in the emergence of new genres, narratives and strategies rooted in immediacy and self-reference in the representation of everyday life and the environments in which individual and collective memory are developed. The works in this exhibition have encompassed or reacted against this phenomenon through documentary and conceptual processes that are formally influenced by online society and subsequently the abstraction of everyday life.
