ArtCenter/South Florida’s PRINTshop Residency Program is ideal for artists who are committed to experimentation and innovation, seeking artistic & professional development, and are interested in being a part of and contributing to a dynamic community of local, national and international artists and creative thinkers. Located in the heart of South Beach on Lincoln Road, a commercial pedestrian mall, ArtCenter offers a unique residency experience in an urban, yet tropical setting. With a constant flow of visitors, ranging from beach lovers to art collectors, ArtCenter resident artists engage with the public on a regular basis. An ArtCenter residency offers opportunities for engagement and cross-cultural exchange with South Florida-based artists and audiences. PRINTshop Residency Program offers artists access to ArtCenter’s print facility to develop new work and advance their artistic careers. Residencies are one (1) year-long in a shared studio.

-Use of ArtCenter’s newly renovated PRINTshop*
-A shared studio space within ArtCenter’s PRINTshop
-$5000 stipend for a one year term
-Teaching opportunities within ArtCenter’s ARTstudies programs (paid)
-Exhibition opportunities at window exhibition spaces
-Wi-Fi access
-24-hour access to the PRINTshop
-Interaction with ArtCenter artists working on-site including visiting artists
-Upon residency completion become part of ArtCenter Alumni Network
*Note: PRINTshop not available during scheduled ARTstudies classes

-Teach two-three hour workshops during the course of the residency
-Oversee the care and maintenance of the PRINTshop space and equipment
-Maintain a set open lab schedule, twice a month, to accommodate ArtCenter residents, visiting artists, ArtCenter students and the general public. (4 hours per session)
-Participate in Studio Crawls held on the first Wednesday of the month
-Participate in the yearly Education open house, providing a printmaking demonstration
-Participate in ArtCenter Mentorship program

– Working, professional artists with a deep commitment to printmaking and with prior teaching experience
– Artists currently not enrolled in an academic program.

– Readiness to engage with and benefit from the PRINTshop Residency Program
– Potential to further develop an innovative creative practice and impact the community

– ArtCenter staff reviews applications to ensure completion and eligibility
– Submissions are reviewed by a 5-member Artist Review Committee comprised of knowledgeable and esteemed artists and art professionals
– The Committee evaluates each artist’s materials and selects finalists
– Finalists are invited for a in-person, phone, or video conference interview to determine final selections
