David McCauley

David McCauley, aka DMC, aka RISE1, is a mixed media artist based in Miami, FL.  David is a former board rider (surf/snow/skate) who incorporates broken skateboard decks into many of his works.  David enjoys exploring adaptive techniques to create art and is fond of utilizing stencils, image transfers, recycled materials, and fluid acrylics.  His work has shown throughout NYC and Miami.

In September 2008, David suffered a spinal cord injury and became paralyzed from the chest down.  During his stay in the hospital, David was introduced to art therapy, which had such a profound influence on him he decided to leave his career on Wall St and pursue his art full time.  In 2010, David founded the Rise Up Gallery, a non-profit organization, that provides art therapy workshops to the community and exhibition space to emerging artists.  In 2012, Rise Up relocated from NYC to the Wynwood Arts District in Miami.
