Eurydice Kamvisseli

Born on the island of Lesbos, Greece, Eurydice received her BA in Fine Arts from Bard College where she studied with Roy Lichtenstein, among others; an MA in creative writing from the University of Colorado in Boulder; an MA in Art History and Comparative Literature and an MFA in Creative Writing from Brown University where she later taught as an adjunct professor.  Along with working on her groundbreaking art, she has published books with Scribner and Virago Press, written a monthly column for national magazines, and made documentary films in India. Her work has been published in dozens of anthologies and literary magazines.  She has participated in numerous art shows in Europe and the US. She recently returned to making and showing art full-time, using embroidery as her medium of expression and rebellion. Her fiber art connects her with her ancestors and generations of silenced women for whom she hopes to speak for.
