TeenWorks is an outreach program that provides free hands on art instruction and portfolio development to underprivileged teens in the Miami Beach area. Through this program they have the opportunity to become a part of the ArtCenter’s community, working closely with established artists to learn and improve artistic skills that will aid them with college preparation as well as entry into the creative work force. In 2017 the TeenWorks program will focus on intensive instruction in drawing and painting and will include free admission to Fieldwork Workshops @ ArtCenter. The Fieldwork Workshop is a unique forum for artists to share developing creative works and exchange feedback, peer to peer. The Fieldwork structure reveals how each piece is perceived by others and fosters a detailed information exchange. Incisive and stimulating critiques are guided by an experienced facilitator. Comments focus on what’s happening in the work and how each choice shapes the work, keeping the authorship of the artist constantly supported. Fieldwork cultivates insight into composition and strengthens one’s ability to give critical commentary. Fieldwork workshops culminate in an informal showing open to the public. To apply for the program, please call 305.674.8278 ext. 305 or email firstname.lastname@example.org Applicants must be 15-18 years old and qualify for the free or reduced lunch program. Program dates: January – April, 2017.
