Road Work

In partnership with Teachers College at Columbia University, ArtCenter/South Florida invites the public to participate in Road Work, Memories Under Construction an action-based community project designed to collect memories of Lincoln Road Mall. In celebration of the ArtCenter’s 30th Anniversary and the City of Miami Beach’s centennial, artists from the prestigious Teachers College will be taking both written and audiovisual memories by strollers, passers-by, artists, visitors and residents–and ultimately transforming them into pieces of art.

This “living” exhibition will be comprised of workshops and exercises dedicated to gather different perspectives of community members of the past, present and future. Re-creations of such memories into drawing, writing, photography and video mediums, will be on view. Teachers College artists will engage and collaborate with students to transform the output of gathered data collected from the street into a record of action research and ultimately final created pieces.
